TR4 Gold "Fading Light"

TR4 Gold "Fading Light": Released in 2008. Reached trle "Hall of Fame" in  2009.

This was a solo project of mine called "Fading Light". It was one of my most ambitious and successful projects, made entirely by myself. It was inspired by the ideas for the cancelled Tomb Raider 4 Gold project. At the time I had no solid details about the cancelled project, just location Ideas and a loose theme of Voodoo so I remade the project in my own way. This was also my first game to be made using the updated next generation level editor (NGLE) made by Paolo Buratti. Like usual I made most of the game items myself updated from the original TR ones. The Lara outfit, weapons and the occasional game item were made by other designers in the community and are given credit in the readme of the game.

Below is the updated story for this project, which replaces the one in the readme.

Shortly after her return home from a long absence in Egypt, Lara is doing her daily investigating when she stumbles upon an old legend in a book that indicates the mythical figure Davy Jones could actually be real!

It appears Davy Jones was an infamous pirate that caused havoc around the Spanish Main with his ship the “Flying Dutchman”. One myth states that during a raid, the Arawak natives cursed him by making his heart beat, even after his death. It is believed he was drowned in Port Royal, Jamaica during the 1692 earthquake but his infamy lived on in legend.

Shocked by this revelation Lara dives into the myths of the Caribbean where she learns that the Bermuda triangle could be a central waypoint of powerful supernatural energy powered by a small object, namely Davy Jones’s heart! Lara suspects a Voodoo priestess in New Orleans, Louise-Isabelle Villette may have the heart. With all this information, Lara has all she needs for another adventure…
